When Do You Get Your Results?

After taking the Danish citizenship test, you must wait for your result. The waiting period can feel long, but there are clear guidelines for when and how you receive your score.

Timeline for Results

Results from the Danish citizenship test are typically published 4-6 weeks after the test date. This is because all answers must be reviewed and quality-assured by the Ministry of Immigration and Integration in cooperation with SIRI.

For the June 2026 session, you can expect your result in July-August 2026. For the November 2026 winter session, results will typically be available in December 2026-January 2027.

How Do You Receive Your Results?

Your result is sent directly to your Digital Post (e-Boks or mit.dk). Make sure your Digital Post is active and up to date. You will not receive results by physical letter or phone.

How to Check Your Result

Via Digital Post

1. Log in to e-Boks or mit.dk with your MitID
2. Check under "Post from the public" or search for sender "SIRI" or "Udlaendinge- og Integrationsministeriet"
3. Open the letter with your test result

Via borger.dk

1. Go to borger.dk and log in with your MitID
2. Navigate to the citizenship test section under "Udlaendinge" > "Statsborgerskab"
3. Here you can see your result when it becomes available

Tip: Do not check daily for the first few weeks — results take a minimum of 4 weeks. Set a calendar reminder for 5 weeks after the test date.

What Does the Result Show?

Your result letter contains the following information:

Overall Score

• Your total number of correct answers out of 45 questions
• Whether you reached the minimum requirement of 36 correct answers (80%)

Values Questions

• Your number of correct answers on the 5 values questions
• Whether you met the minimum requirement of 4 out of 5 correct in this category

Category Breakdown

To pass, you must meet both requirements: 36 correct overall AND 4 correct values questions.

If You Passed: Next Steps Toward Danish Citizenship

Passing the citizenship test is one of several requirements. There are more steps before you have Danish citizenship:

1. Verify You Meet All Requirements

In addition to the citizenship test, you must meet several other requirements:

• Passed Prove i Dansk 3 (Danish Language Test 3) or equivalent
• Residence in Denmark for a certain period (typically 9 years, but varies)
• Self-sufficiency: You must have been self-supporting for a specific period
• No public debt
• Clean criminal record (certain exceptions for minor offenses)

2. Apply for Danish Citizenship

1. Go to borger.dk and find the citizenship application
2. Log in with MitID and complete the application
3. Attach the required documentation
4. Pay the application fee of 3,800 DKK

The application is processed by the Immigration Service, and the process can take 12-18 months. You can follow your case on uim.dk.

3. The Constitution Ceremony (Grundlovsceremoni)

Once your application is approved and you are included in a citizenship bill, you must attend a Constitution ceremony in your municipality:

• You must shake hands with a municipality representative
• You must sign a declaration to abide by Danish law
• The ceremony is the final formal step before you officially become a Danish citizen
